- 2024
- The 2023 New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon, the only World Athletics Gold Label race in Taiwan, was held on March 19th. The event attracted over 11,000 participants from 33 countries. Emphasizing green sustainability, the marathon was awarded the “International Responsible Sport Silver Standard” by the Council for Responsible Sport in the United States. Additionally, it achieved ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management and completed an ISO 14067 carbon footprint assessment, making it the first marathon in Asia to earn dual green sustainability certifications.
- 2022
- The 20th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon was held on 20 March 2022 and attracted 9,800 runners from 20 countries for participation. The slogan “One of Us” was used to encourage participants and call upon all parties to jointly witness the next 20 years of Wan Jin Shi.
- 2021
- The 2021 New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon was initially to be held on 21 March; however, the race was delayed to 21 November due to the global outbreak of COVID-19. Upholding the spirit of “WE CAN,” the race continued to be organized by adopting the highest standards and became the most representative marathon in Taiwan.
- 2020
- The 18th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon was initially to be held on 15 March 2020; however, the race was suspended in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. Except for those applying for refunding, all registration and participation qualifications were maintained until 2021.
- 2019
- The 17th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon was held in 2019 on 17 March. The major spirit and target of “#onlyWAN” remained unchanged and in compliance with the meaning of the 17th race, creating the main theme – “#jointhe17thWAN” of topicality and attractivity.
- 2018
- The 16th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon was the first and only “silver label” race approved by IAAF in Taiwan. The brand spirit of “#onlyWAN” (only one) and “WAN” out of a million (one out of a million) continued to be adopted for the race. Over 40 foreign elite runners were invited to visit Taiwan for participation, marking a new milestone for the race. Yuki Kawauchi, the most powerful public servant runner in Japan, participated in the race for the second time and secured the championship of the male group.
- 2017
- Receiving the bronze label for three consecutive years, the 15th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon applied for the silver label review with IAAF in 2017. The brand spirit of “#onlyWAN” (only one) and “WAN” out of a million (one out of a million) penetrated the entire race, with the overall execution scale elevated in combination with technology and cultural innovation. In December 2017, IAAF announced that Wan Jin Shi Marathon would become a silver label race.
- 2016
- The 14th New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon in 2016 invited Yuki Kawauchi, a popular runner known as the “public servant runner” in Japan, to visit Taiwan to participate in the race. Kawauchi is rated the most powerful citizen runner; apart from his high popularity in Japan, many runners scrambled to take photos with him when he visited Taiwan for the first time. The “Kawauchi Tornado” became the spotlight for the 2016 Wan Jin Shi Marathon.
- 2015
- The 13th race was formally registered in the annual calendar of IAAF as the “New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon” and became the first and only marathon with the bronze label certified by IAAF in Taiwan. Sergey Bubka, the vice president of IAAF, visited Taiwan to participate in the race and serve as the guest for firing the starting shot and presenting awards.
